Wedge-Mill Tool Celebrating 35 years!

Wedge-Mill Tool is celebrating 35 years in business!!!

Wedge-Mill Tool (WMT) is very excited to be celebrating its 35th year in business this year!  It started as an idea with 5 guys in an 1000 square foot space and has grown and matured into a 12,000 square foot business.  John Yaros, President, is the only original partner that is still with the company.  Primarily a cutting tool manufacturer at the beginning, Wedge-Mill adapted and changed with the needs of its customers.  Currently, along with manufacturing cutting tools, WMT manufactures assembly and  fabricated parts for a variety of industries including automotive, conveyor, copper and brass foundries, medical , gage, military and cookware industries.  WMT has the ability to machine aluminum, plastic, carbide, in addition to a wide range of steel and other non-ferrous metals.  “We are very fortunate to  celebrate this great milestone especially when we started in the middle of a recession back in 1982,” Yaros stated, “I look forward to seeing Wedge-Mill continue to grow and prosper.”  Check out our website at www.wedgemill.com  or contact us at sales@wedgemill.com

Meet our Engineering Manager

Meet our Engineering Manager, Brian Dzmelyk!

Brian has been with Wedge-Mill since the beginning, starting in the Surface Grind Department back in 1982.  He's worked his way up to Supervisor, Plant Manager then Engineering Manager in 2004.  He works with the shop to help clarify prints, come up with solutions on how to run jobs and handles the outside services.  Brian helps out the quoting department when needed.  He works with many of our customers, solving problems and getting clarifications on blueprints.    He also is our LEAN Champion, helping to improve efficiencies in the shop.

Before Wedge-Mill, he worked at R & D Tool and Replace in Farmington in the Blanchard, Saw and Surface Grind departments and he has an Associates Degree in Culinary Arts at Schoolcraft College. He has 2 adult daughters, Erica and Kelly, and 1 granddaughter, Hailey.  Brian enjoys tennis, golf and bowling.

Brian has over 35 years of manufacturing know how!  If anyone has a question regarding capabilities or needs a quote, please feel free to give him a call! 248-486-6400 x114

49 years and counting....

This guy has been in the manufacturing business for 49 years!
His name is John Yaros and he is the President and CEO of Wedge-Mill Tool(WMT).  He's the last original owner of WMT.  John and 4 other owners started WMT in February, 1982 in a 1000 square foot building.  He had worked for R & D Tool for 15 years (starting in their Engineering Department and working his way up to their Sales Manager), before an opportunity presented itself in 1982 to become  part owner in a new company. He was Vice-President and Sales Manager of Wedge-Mill until 1998 when he became President.  John handles most of the quoting and sales and marketing.  Not many can say they've worked for 49 years much less been in the same industry for that long!  So we are chock full of experience and manufacturing know-how!  Please feel free to give John a call at 248-486-6400 x111 or e-mail him at jyaros@wedgemill.com

Wedge-Mill Tool is celebrating it's 34 years in business growing from 1000 square feet to 12,000 square feet!  We started as a cutting tool manufacturer and now we are that and so much more!!  We are a one stop shop with our niche in the small to medium sized parts.  We can manufacture one to thousands of parts.  Check out our website!  www.wedgemill.com

It's been awhile--what's new at Wedge-Mill Tool!

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted on the blog.  So what's new at Wedge-Mill Tool?

We had record years in 2014 and 2015!  Thanks to all of our customers for helping us succeed and grow.    Business has been a little slower in 2016 so if anyone has any fabrication, assembly parts, or cutting tool needs, let us know!  sales@wedgemill.com
We've added new machinery.  In 2015 we purchased a new CNC Fadal Mill and Webb Lathe.

We've promoted our CNC Supervisor, John Kraemer, to Quality Control Manager.  He's doing a great job handing calibrations, final inspections, ISO audits and customer/vendor issues.

We also have a new video that explains what we do.   Check it out!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOnQ3dZPdVY

We celebrated our 34th year in business! We are looking forward to the next 34 years being just as great!!!

All in a Name? Don't assume we just make wedges......

Our name is like a double edged sword.  Wedge-Mill Tool.  It kind of assumes all we make are wedges or we just mill things.  Or we are just a tool and die company.  And don't get me wrong--we get many cold calls from potential customers asking for us to make wedges and they found us due to our name.  But that's just ONE small aspect of what we do.  We manufacture cutting tools and assembly parts.  We are a fabricator.  We have 4 saws, 4 CNC lathes, 6 CNC mills, 3 blanchard grinders, 10 surface grinders, 1 braze machine, 2 Jig grinders and 2 ID/OD grinders.  We are a full service manufacturer.  We are a "Flexible One Stop Shop".  We are the "Hardware Store for the Cutting Tool Industry".  We can handle the close tolerances.  We can accomodate the quick deliveries for customers in trouble.  We specialize in the smaller parts--we've made 1 to thousands of parts for our customers.

We also offer local services such as black oxide and laser etching usually with a same day turnaround.

So the next time you hear "Wedge-Mill Tool", don't just think we do wedges;  we are a whole lot more......

Check out our website to see why.... www.wedgemill.com

Starting something new!

My first post on my brand new blog!  I thought I would start a blog about Wedge-Mill Tool, the company I work for and am part owner of.  Manufacturing has been constantly changing with machines becoming more computerized and parts more intricate and closer tolerances.  I thought this would be a forum to use to see what the latest and greatest machines are out there, what problems manufacturers in American face, what type of products and services we manufacture and any other topics I get steered to.  So if anyone has any comments, let me know! Check out our website.Wedge-Mill Tool Website
We are in the process of updating our website so you should be seeing it change within the next few weeks.  I'm excited for everyone to see our new and improved website!
